Some things that could be improved with Hubert Happy Savings (I'm a depositor):
Big, major, head-slapping "what were they thinking", "couldn't they copy" ones:
Transfer-out requires manual entry of all information, every time! Linked external accounts should not require this. Perhaps a popup menu with the accounts, with an "Other" option for arbitrary destination accounts (which is an interesting feature). [Fixed November 2011]
transfers done with the Hubert transfer-in function all display as "Pre-Authorized Credit - Incoming Hubert Financial Incoming", without any indication of the source institution. Transactions "pushed" from an outside institution properly show this ("Pre-Authorized Credit - Incoming Ally") [Fixed Fall 2011]
- No Postdated or Recurring transfers (Ally, ING)
- No ability to see pending transfers.
- When closing your account, your $5 "share" is not immediately returned. Instead, you have to fill out a request form, the Board of Directors approves it at their next quarterly meeting, and they send you a $5 cheque. The folks at Accelerate seem to have come up with a much smoother way of doing this.
Smaller annoyances, or my own personal preferences:
- The Return key doesn't perform the Log In button action
- No picture/passphrase security, ala ING, Ally, BMO
- no optional cookie-based memory of account# for login (ING, BMO, TD)
- account number (5 digits) used for login, instead of user-defined username (Ally)
- no definable "nicknames" for accounts (Ally); "High Interest Savings - 1 CAD" is pretty ugly.
- no online change-of-address capability
- The full 12-digit account number is not available anywhere online (
having Hubert's bank and transit numbers in a FAQ or somewhere would be handy too).
- If you are going to send an email on triggering a Transfer-In, having one when it completes might be also be
appropriate. And consistency would suggest a "Transfer-Out" email as well.
- The interest rate shown on the account balances screen could use a "%" character - every time I look at that page I register it as $2.50 for something or other.
